Bach hoopte om op die manier de titel van Dresdens hofcomponist in te wacht te slepen. Het geschenk was de <em>Missa<\/em> BWV 232<sup>1<\/sup>, bestaande uit de eerste twee delen (<em>Kyrie<\/em> en <em>Gloria<\/em>) van wat uiteindelijk, in de late jaren 1740 zou uitgroeien tot de beroemde vijfdelige mis in si klein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En toen het nieuwe vorstenpaar het daaropvolgende jaar Leipzig bezocht, liet Bach de kans niet voorbijgaan om de huldigingscantate BWV 215 te componeren en uit te voeren op de grote markt onder het balkon van de koninklijke gasten. Elk academiejaar studeert het ensemble, onder leiding van de internationaal gerenommeerde docenten van de Oude Muziek afdeling en occasionele gastdirigenten, een achttal programma\u2019s in. Het repertoire omvat orkestwerken uit de laatste decennia van de 17<sup>de<\/sup> tot de eerste decennia van de 19<sup>de<\/sup> eeuw. Hij treedt op als solist en met zijn kamermuziekensembles More Maiorum en Mezzaluna, maar is daarnaast ook bijzonder actief als ensembleleider, dirigent en docent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tien jaar lang was hij vaste dirigent van het Brusselse barokorkest Les Muffatti. Sinds 2016 is hij nauw verbonden aan het Belgische barokorkest en vocaal ensemble Il Gardellino, waar hij zich toelegt op de herontdekking van vergeten meesterwerken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als blokfluitist en dirigent nam hij talrijke cd\u2019s op voor labels als&nbsp;Accent, Eufoda, Opus 111, Passacaille, en Ram\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Van Heyghen is docent cultureel ge\u00efnformeerde uitvoeringspraktijk&nbsp;aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel en het Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
